Export your 1Password logins to 1PUX or CSV, step by step — where the option lives, what the file holds, and how to delete it safely afterwards.

Plain-text file

Before you start: Your export is saved as a plain-text file. Keep it on your own device and delete it the moment your import into Simply Once is finished.

    Open 1Password

    Open 1Password and sign in to your account.

    Open the export screen

    Click your account name in the top-left corner, then choose Export.

    Pick what to export

    Pick the vault you want to export, or choose All Vaults.

    Choose a format

    Choose a format — 1PUX (recommended) or CSV.

    Confirm your password

    Enter your account password to authorize the export.

    Click Export Data and save the file somewhere safe.

Good to know. 1PUX keeps all of your data and field types. CSV is simpler but may drop some fields.

Keep the file safe

  • This file lists every saved password in the clear — treat it like cash.
  • Delete it the moment your import into Simply Once is done.
  • Never email it or upload it to cloud storage.
  • Don’t share the file with anyone.
  • Use Shift + Delete on Windows, or empty your Trash on a Mac, so it can’t be recovered.

Frequently asked questions

Is the exported file encrypted?
No. The export is plain text — anyone who opens it can read every entry. Delete it as soon as your import into Simply Once is done.
Will exporting remove my passwords from 1Password?
No. Exporting makes a copy. Your saved passwords stay in 1Password.
What should I do with the file after I import it?
Delete it permanently. Use Shift + Delete on Windows or empty your Trash on a Mac so it can’t be recovered.
