Plain-text file

Before you start: Your export is saved as a plain-text file. Keep it on your own device and delete it the moment your import into Simply Once is finished.

    Open Chrome's menu

    Open Chrome and click the three-dot menu (⋮) in the top-right corner.

    Open Google Password Manager

    Go to Passwords and autofillGoogle Password Manager.

    Open Settings

    In the left sidebar, click Settings.

    Download the file

    Next to Export passwords, click Download file.

    Verify it's you

    Enter your computer’s login password (or use fingerprint / face) when prompted.

    Save the CSV

    Save Chrome Passwords.csv somewhere local, like your Desktop.

Keep the file safe

  • This file lists every saved password in the clear — treat it like cash.
  • Delete it the moment your import into Simply Once is done.
  • Never email it or upload it to cloud storage.
  • Don’t share the file with anyone.
  • Use Shift + Delete on Windows, or empty your Trash on a Mac, so it can’t be recovered.

Frequently asked questions

Where is the exported file saved?
Chrome saves it to your Downloads folder as Chrome Passwords.csv, unless you picked another location in the Save dialog.
Can I export from Chrome on my phone?
Yes. Open Chrome → three-dot menu → SettingsPassword ManagerSettingsExport passwords, then verify your identity and save or share the file.
Is the exported file encrypted?
No. The CSV is plain text — anyone who opens it can read every password. Delete it as soon as your import is done.
Will exporting remove passwords from Chrome?
No. Exporting makes a copy. Your saved passwords stay in Google Password Manager.

Once it’s in Simply Once, your vault is end-to-end encrypted. That exported file isn’t — delete it as soon as your import is done.
